For more than 30 years, the Springfield Community Pantry has served as a place of hope for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity throughout Sarpy and Cass Counties.
What began as a single cupboard in the basement of Springfield First United Methodist Church has grown alongside the needs of our community. Over the years, the pantry expanded into classrooms, storage areas, and eventually a 1,800-square-foot home dedicated to helping neighbors in need.
While our location has changed, our mission has remained the same:
To provide nutritious food with dignity, compassion, and respect.
The Springfield Community Pantry exists to ensure that no neighbor has to face hunger alone.
We believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food in an environment that is welcoming, respectful, and free from judgment. Every family who visits our pantry is treated with kindness and compassion because asking for help should never come at the cost of dignity.
The Springfield Community Pantry proudly serves families throughout Sarpy and Cass Counties.
In 2025, the pantry served 117 families, assisting an average of 35 families each month.
Behind every number is a family navigating difficult circumstances—and a community that chooses to help.
Our goal has always been to remove barriers, not create them.
Families visit the pantry through private appointments designed to protect confidentiality and provide a welcoming experience. We do not require income verification to receive pantry assistance, except when required by USDA food programs.
Whether someone needs assistance for a short time or longer-term support, every individual is welcomed with compassion, respect, and understanding.
Because food assistance should always come with dignity.
As our community continues to grow, so does the need for food assistance.
That is why we are building a new Springfield Community Pantry—a permanent home that will allow us to better serve local families for years to come.
